York groomer seeks retrospective planning permission

Dog groomer Joanne Senior is seeking retrospective planning permission to use the barn she has operated her business in for nearly three years.

Senior of Mulberry Farm in Askham Richard, York, is seeking a respective change of use for part of an existing barn to dog grooming salon.

The salon covers 15sq m of the 323sq m barn, say plans submitted to City of York Council.

Eight vehicle movements a day are generated by the business and there is ample on-site parking, with access from the existing drive of Mulberry Farm, according to the plans.

Planning documents say: “The property is sited some distance from the village centre and is 365m away from the nearest dwelling situated on Butt Acre Lane. There is no issue with noise from the property. The date the change of use occurred was September 2020.”

The plans added: “The scale of the proposed would not affect the existing appearance of the existing barn.”
