Waltham grooming salon hails start

The owners of a new grooming salon in Waltham, Lincolnshire, say the facility has been so successful that their diaries are fully booked for three weeks at any given time.

Groomers Connie Walker and Jessica Martin-Smith opened Canine Creations, their first salon, on Kirkgate in June. The salon also caters for small animals and cats.

Martin-Smith told Grimsby Live: “We do a lot of small animals and short-haired and long-haired cats. We also have elderly cats who have stopped grooming themselves, and we work with referrals from vets and they come to us then. A giant rabbit has even come.”

The business partners met at the Grimsby Institute, where Walker was the programme leader in the City & Guilds dog grooming department, and Martin-Smith – who qualified in June – was one of her students.

Walker said: “The stars aligned for us to open the salon, because we’ve got so much common ground and so many things in common, and our lives are very similar.

“We both have the understanding that we wanted to better our family lives and have more of a work-life balance.”
