Plans submitted for new dog training centre in Dereham

Plans have been lodged for a new dog training centre in Dereham, Norfolk.

Applicant Phillip Jones of Hide and Go Sniff has submitted plans to Breckland Council for a change of use at 33 Yaxham Road to provide canine sport training, mainly in the form of scent detection and obedience in both one-to-one and group classes, alongside the sale of related training equipment.

A document in support of the application states: “The vast majority of classes will be attended by one to six customers occasionally with eight at weekends.

“After opening the facility at Yaxham Road this will likely expand into further dog sports/activities such as obedience, ring craft, and rally.”

The document adds that it does not anticipate the need for refuse collection, as the company name listed on the document as Hide and Go Sniff, operates from community and village halls on a ‘take your waste home’ policy that will continue.

A decision is expected by 27 September.
