Dereham training academy opens permanent base

Dereham Dog Academy, in Norfolk, has opened its new facility.

The company, which has been operating since 2019, started using various village halls in the local area but it became difficult to work around the venues’ schedules.

Owner Phil Jones specialises in scent training, but is inviting trainers from other areas to host classes. The facility currently offers puppy obedience, parkour, ringcraft, nutrition classes, and photography sessions.

Jones told Eastern Daily Press: “I just wanted to create a general central hub for dog owners and dog trainers to work together – that’s what’s missing in this space. If you’re not in this world you won’t realise how polarised it is.

“At the end of the day, at our academy, we all just want to get the best out of each dog – we look at dogs as individuals and try to work out what every dog and every owner needs.”
