Derbyshire agricultural land could become dog exercising field

Plans for a new three-and-a-half acre a dog exercising facility in The Green, just south of Kirk Langley, have been submitted to Amber Valley Borough Council.

The plans for the site, which is 300 metres north of the junction with Petty Close Lane, include four parking spots and a wildflower meadow habitat.

The application says the site would be available for one booking at a time for a maximum of an hour for each session, only during daytime hours, and with a maximum of four dogs per session.

Applicant Mr G Spencer writes: “Initial interest in the potential facility from local dog walkers shows that there is a demand which, after allowing for the costs of creating the facility, outweighs the annual income obtainable from its current grassland use either for grazing or for the production of silage as animal fodder.”

A decision on the plans will be made by the council in the next few months.
