Mid-Wales dog care firms set for licence fees hike

Animal welfare licence fees in Powys, Mid-Wales, are set to be increased by 14-15% from 1 April to “reflect and cover the cost and time of council staff processing the licences”.

From April the licence for home boarders and daycares will be £213 – up from £186 in 2022/2023, and for commercial kennels it will be £288 – up from £253 in 2022/2023.

The move follows a consultation in November. One objector said: “I am very disappointed that you will be trying to squeeze us more by increasing the fees again.

“I can’t keep passing the cost on or I become too expensive for people to use me.”

Councillors voted unanimously to approve the changes.
