Powys dog care firms to see licence fees rise

Home Boarders, doggy daycares, and commercial kennels in Powys, in mid Wales, will see their licence fees increase after an annual review.

The licence fee charges for home boarders and doggy daycares will be £215 – up from £213 in 2023/2024. Meanwhile, licences for commercial kennels will cost £291 – up from £288 in 2023/2024.

The fee increase will be backdated to start from 1 April.

The council’s Animal Health Team Manager Gavin Jones said: “The proposed fees are in line with Local Government Association guidance and are determined detailing all the aspects of the licensing regime.”

The fees cover the cost staff processing licences and administration, including training, equipment, travelling, and inspection.

A vote to approve the recommendation was unanimously supported by the committee.
