Suffolk groomer to open salon in Crowfield

Groomer Summer Mark, from Suffolk, is to launch her own salon in early July.

Summer’s Groom Room will be located at the Woodfarm Business Centre, in Crowfield, alongside The Pampered Pooch Hut.

The 19-year-old told Stowmarket Mercury: “I am extremely excited to be able to work my own hours, be my own boss and have my own clients and build the relationships I have with those clients.

“I have had a lot of people questioning my age and starting my own business, but I thought, if you start young, then by the time I am 22, I will be further along in my knowledge and development than what I would if I was to start the business at that age.”

Mark has trained previously on a level 3 animal management diploma and has trained at Tendring Dog Grooming Academy. She has also worked as a veterinary assistant for more than a year.

She told Stowmarket Mercury: “I have had a lot of interest. I have officially booked anything in yet as I wanted to wait until everything is in the salon and I am all set before doing so, but I do have some people on the books.”

Mark told the newspaper that in the future she would like to be able to keep the business smaller and personal, but move to a bigger space that can accommodate space for a doggy daycare.
