Plans for St Helens boarding facility approved

Plans for a dog boarding facility at Arch Lane Farm in Garswood, St Helens in Merseyside, has been approval despite numerous objections.

The plans, submitted by applicants Mr And Mrs Taylor and Anne Olversonsite – the owners of Dogabode – relate to a collection of agricultural buildings and the main farmhouse.

The development would consist of 13 individual indoor/outdoor dog kennels and a separate space for a doggy daycare facility.

There will be a small fenced-off outdoor exercise area next to the building and parking would be available for drop-off and collection of dogs.

Objections had been recieved in relation to concerns over increased traffic, noise nuisance, potential smells, and harm to the green belt.

A council planning officer said the applicant had “amended the proposed development by removing the first-floor level from the proposed extension, to reduce the impact on the openness of the green belt”.
