PetStay looks to expand chaperone business

Home boarding business PetStay is looking for more branches to offer its chaperone business Walkies Down the Aisle with PetStay.

The East Yorkshire-based company, which officially launched its pilot chaperone branch in October 2021 at the York Racecourse Wedding Fayre, would like another local branch to introduce the chaperone service so that it can work closely alongside it to get the business up and running.

Vicky Cusworth, Franchise and Business Co-Ordinator at PetStay, said: “Because the lead time for weddings is so far in advance, we see our business growing year on year. During lockdown there was a substantial increase in pet ownership and dogs are a part of the family, so it goes without saying that betrothed couples want to include their four-legged friend in their day, their only issue is everyone who they would normally trust with their dog is at the wedding so a professional/experienced dog lover is required and that’s where we come in.”

On the day of the wedding, the chaperone collects the pet from their home and transports them to the venue. Upon arrival, they offer a short walk, toilet break, treats, and sprucing up the dog including dressing them and then assisting the dog to be a part of the wedding.

After their duties are complete, the chaperone transports the dog back to the location of the couple’s choosing, giving them another short walk and any other assistance they need, before leaving.

Cusworth added: “The benefit of our service means if the couple are going off on honeymoon their local PetStay branch can also provide home dog boarding for the duration of their honeymoon.”
