Newcastle-under-Lyme to consider dog walking restrictions

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is consulting on its proposed public space protection orders (PSPOs) that could ban dog walkers from more than 80 locations in the North Staffordshire town.

Areas where full bans are proposed include those where children play, cemeteries and sports facilities.

In addition, if the orders are passed, dog walkers will be forced to keep dogs on leads in 30 extra locations around the borough.

The maximum number of dogs allowed to be walked at once would be six under the orders.

The restrictions could be introduced as soon as November.

The consultation, which closes on 23 August, can be found here.
