Dog businesses pick up Small Business Sunday Awards

Entrepreneur and former Drangon’s Den star Theo Paphitis has hosted his annual event for the winners of the Small Business Sunday Awards, which saw a range of dog businesses be recognised for their services and innovation.

Small Business Sunday is a weekly initiative set up by Paphitis in 2010 and it now has more than 3,000 winners within its supportive community.

It was set up to offer support for all the sole traders and small businesses in the UK, with the annual event bringing everyone together for a day of networking.

Winners included Pippin Pets Dog Training, Poochee Care, and virtual assistant business Fiona-Your VA, among others.

Jo Sellers, from Pippin Pets Dog Training, said: “It was an amazing time to be selected to join, only 0.8% of entries win, so to be part of this fabulous network and support group is a huge boost to Pippin Pets. It has raised my profile as well as being recognised for my hard work to raise the awareness of separation anxiety in dogs, and how I can help families with distressed home-alone dogs.”

Fiona Pedley, who runs Fiona-Your VA, added: “I am absolutely over the moon to have this award from Theo, it’s hard setting up your own business, it was a leap of faith and to have this recognition from Theo, a Dragon and champion of entrepreneurs, after one year of being in business is fantastic.”

Alyson Lane, owner of Poochee Care, said: “Winning SBS after being chosen as one of the 0.8% of all entries has really stopped me in my tracks and made me  realise, that the services I offer are the best possible care for dogs.”
