Dog rules in Bognor and Littlehampton to be reviewed
A West Sussex council is looking to extend orders which control where dogs are allowed for a further three years.
Currently, a number of public space protection orders (PSPOs) in Bognor and Littlehampton mean that dogs are allowed in certain areas as long as they are on a lead.
However, Arun District Council is looking into how these rules could change and is proposing extending the expiring rules until 2026.
The proposed changes include allowing dogs on Place St Maur (and other future water play areas), in Discovery Garden in Hotham Park, both in Bognor Regis and West Beach Board Walk (off Rope Walk), Littlehampton, as long as they are on leads under control.
Failure to comply with the conditions of the order can result in a fine or fixed penalty notice.
Arun District Councillor Sue Wallsgrove, Chair of the Environment Committee, said: “These orders are in place to ensure that everyone can enjoy the many beautiful open spaces and beaches we have in the district.
“We are encouraging as many people as possible, whether you are a dog owner or not, to complete the survey and share your views to help shape the new order.”
A survey on the rules, which is open until 31 July, can be accessed here.
