Dog groomer to open salon after lottery win

A dog groomer from Market Weighton, East Yorkshire, is set to open her own salon after scooping £87,400 on the Postcode Lottery.

Gill Grose, who no longer lives at the winning address, plans to use some of her winnings to set up a home salon.

Grose, who left her job as an investment finance manager in June 2023, has completed canine behaviour and dog training, while also undertaking dog grooming courses.

She said: “I’ve started my business properly in January. There’s a company down in Kent somewhere that does groom pods, and it’s like a Portakabin, but it’s got everything in it fully equipped – wash-down and everything – and they just crane it into your drive.

“This will help me set it up from home now because I’m temporarily in kennels working there.”
