Stockton kennels gets go-ahead to expand at farm site

A dog boarding facility in Stockton, County Durham, has been given retrospective planning permission to expand at its farm site.

Blakeston Croft Farm Kennels, off Blakeston Lane near Thorpe Thewles, had already built a new kennel block and brought a building to the site for a reception “in the mistaken belief that such works constituted permitted development” that did not need planning permission.

However, Stockton Council has now given part-retrospective consent to the plan for a purpose-built brick kennel block.

The plan was approved with conditions, including a limit of 10 kennels and 20 dogs at any time, to be housed in the kennels between 10pm and 8am with measures to manage barking noise.
