Scottish kennels hit by tragic fire
Kirkland K9 kennels in Jackton, near East Kilbride, was hit by a fire in the early hours of Saturday (3 June).
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 5.31am to reports of a fire in the open at boarding kennels on Eaglesham Road, East Kilbride.
Two fire engines were sent to tackle the blaze. No casualties were reported, and crews left the scene at 8.28am after making the area safe.
It is understood that five dogs died in the fire, which police said is “not being treated as wilful”, it is not known whether other pets were rescued.
Owner Tom Lang said in a Facebook post: “It is with unbelievable sadness that as a result of a tragic accident in the early hours of this morning at Kirkland K9 our boarding kennels have been destroyed.”
He added: “Once again we would like to thank everyone for their kind words and offers of support.”
