Preston dog walking firm set to expand

Dog walking firm Go Barkers has applied for planning permission to convert a field next to its base in Goosnargh Lane, Preston, into a dog field.

Owners Mr and Mrs Barker, who already operate a dog walking service, have added a pick-up and play service.

The proposal, lodged with Preston City Council, says a boundary fence and access gates are already in place for the former 2,300sq m agricultural field.

In the proposals, Paul Henderson of Evolve Architectural Design, writes: “It is proposed to change the use of the land from agricultural to a dog walking field (Sui Generis). The field will be used to exercise dogs for approximately one-hour sessions throughout the day.

“There will be a maximum of three dogs at any one time all of which will be from the same household. There will be no mixing of dogs from different households.

“Dogs will be collected from their owners in the business’s van and transported to the dog walking field.”

The hours of operation are expected to be 8am to 7pm on weekdays in late March to October and 8am to 6pm on weekends during the same period.

In the winter period, from late October to late March, the field will be used 8am to 4pm weekdays and 8am to 2pm on weekends.
