Kent grooming salon set to open after £60,000 refit

Happy Tails, a dog spa with a pet supply store, is set to open in Higham, Kent, after a £60,000 refurbishment.

Salon owners Kerry Jewiss and Claire Stevens are in the process of completely transforming the former hair salon. It will offer a wide range of food and treats, including a pick-and-mix station of natural treats, pet supplies such as toys, leads and beds, medical products, and personalised gifts such as pet portraits.

There will also be an outdoor ‘wash and go’ shower area so dog walkers can clean their pets before taking them home, with shampoo, brushes and towels provided by the store.

Jewiss, who is a qualified dog breeder and trainer, told KentOnline: “I have run a business for a while now but I always worked out of my home. I have always wanted a premises.

“We were thinking of opening up a daycare but I was looking for a lot more space and nothing was coming up in the right location.

“When this came up it took me around 48 hours to decide if we could make it work. It is what I have always wanted to do so we went for it.”

Happy Tails is hoping to be open in July.
