Groomer hits back at critics of Remembrance Day package
Fur Fabulous Grooming has hit back at critics of its Remembrance Day package who deemed it “in poor taste”.
The Remembrance Day package included a spa treatment for the dogs, comprising a blueberry facial spa, a mud spa bath, a pawdicure – diamond nail file, paw balm and poppy fragrance. Dogs who received the package also received a free poppy bow or bandana.
The Bury St. Edmunds-based groomer told The Canine Times: “We do a remembrance day window display every year to show our support for Remembrance Day for lost soldiers and working animals lost in the war.
“We wanted to take it a step further from the window and share support with our clients.”
Fur Fabulous Grooming added: “Being close to so many air bases, a large number of clients are in the forces and we have had some very touching responses from those clients expressing what a lovely and wonderful way to show remembrance through their pets.
“Those clients who didn’t indulge in a spa treatment still went away with a free poppy bandana.”
However, the initiative attracted negative attention on Twitter, with an article in a national newspaper claiming it was “slammed” by online critics.
“We have had no negativity on our social media only support,” Fur Fabulous Grooming said. “It seems only a very small handful of people have been negative.
“Everyone expresses their support in a different way, we are giving our clients the opportunity, if they wish, to show theirs through their beloved four-legged family members. And in turn, it’s how we are showing ours,” it added.
