Dog walkers warned as ‘poisoned’ cereal left on South London streets
Police have issued a warning to dog walkers after they received reports of piles of “poison” mixed with cereal being left across Eltham, South London.
Concerned locals have been reporting piles of coco pops and cornflakes mixed with a white powder being left across the town.
Eltham police tweeted: “We have received reports of suspicious food being left on the floor in the Eltham High Street/Well Hall Road area. It looks like a pile of cereal. Please be mindful do not allow your dog to go near it. Report it immediately to Fix-my-Street and 101.”
They added: “We received the information from a concerned resident who believes it could be mixed with some kind of poison, but we have no evidence to prove this. We just wanted to make dog owners aware just in case. We are carrying out regular patrols in the area.”
Suspected poisoned cornflakes were also reportedly found in Dunston Park, Gateshead, this week.
