Dog mums equate having a pet to bond with a child  

Around 70% of female dog owners say they have such a deep bond with their pets that they liken it to the connection between a mother and child, new research reveals. 

Research from ManyPets shows more than half of dog owners admit they are planning to celebrate Mother’s Day, with more than a third saying they have previously received a Mother’s Day card from their pets, while 43% are hoping for a card this year.  

In addition, the study shows 83% of female dog owners throw their pets a birthday party, while 61% invest in gourmet food, and 33% have even fed their pet with a spoon or fork.
