Darwen dog groomer secures retrospective planning permission
A dog grooming salon in Darwen, Lancashire, has been awarded retrospective planning permission to use a former Baptist chapel despite a complaint over dog dirt and parking.
Danni’s Diamond Dogs applied to Darwen Council for retrospective planning permission to continue to use the building, known as ‘The Gospel Hall’ in Wood Street, for its business.
Owner Danielle Martin, who opened her first shop in 2006, told Lancs Live that she wasn’t aware she would need to submit an application to change the use of the chapel.
The ground floor has two separate grooming rooms, with the upper floor within the roof space utilised for ancillary storage and staff facilities.
The planning approval has conditions regarding the hours of use and restricting the premises’ use to dog grooming only.
