Councillor launches free dog training sessions in Cumberland
A Cumberland councillor is working with a dog trainer to provide free dog training sessions in his Upperby ward.
Liberal Democrat councillor Chris Wills says a rise in dog attacks is becoming a hot topic for dog owners in the area.
The first sessions, which will led by a registered dog trainer and a dog behaviourist, were held on 31 May and 1 June.
Wills will also be walking around the district to encourage and promote the training of dogs.
Wills told The Canine Times that he has “had positive feedback already from constituents”.
“What is happening in my Upperby ward I intend to be a national programme, as it is a national issue,” he added.

Bring it on – as long as the rates paid are commensurate with the professional rates in the locality.
The more that qualified professional trainers and behaviourists can liaise with other agencies, the better, but very difficult to bring about as an individual.
