Brits prioritise dogs over partners in the bedroom

Almost 80% of the nation’s pet owners share their bed with their dog, new research reveals.

The research by Rover.com reveals 19% of Brits say they have kicked their partner out of the bedroom to make room for their dog or have even gone to sleep elsewhere because their dog was hogging the bed (22%).

In addition, the survey reveals 66% of owners put up with their dogs snoring, but won’t tolerate this with a partner (29%).

When asked why they let their dogs into their bed, 39% said they don’t want their pet to get lonely, 37% want to ensure their dog is comfortable, and 25% say they feel less lonely with their pet by their side.

The survey reveals that more than 50% of owners initially tried to implement a no-dogs-on-the-bed rule, but 31% gave in within just a month of getting their pet.

The top 10 bed-loving breeds are Pomeranian (95%), Shih Tzu (93%), Chihuahua (91%), German Shepherd (87%), French Bulldog (82%), Husky (81%), Dachshund (81%), Golden Retriever (80%), Cocker Spaniel (80%), and Mixed breed (79%).
