Battersea ‘overwhelmed’ by donations after Paul O’Grady’s death
Battersea Dogs & Cat Home says it has been “overwhelmed” by donations, letters, and calls by members of the public following Paul O’Grady’s death last week.
O’Grady had acted as an ambassador at the charity for a number of years, helping to raise its profile through the ITV series Paul O’Grady for the Love of Dogs.
Battersea has received more than £230,000 in donations since the news of his sudden death on 28 March.
Peter Laurie, Chief Executive of Battersea, said: “We have been overwhelmed and touched by the countless letters, calls, emails and messages of support along with the generous donations made by kind members of the public this week.
“We will be looking to find a suitably fitting way to remember the profound impact Paul had at Battersea and the rescue animal sector; something that will support the animals that Paul loved so much and that would make him proud.”
He added: “Paul loved Battersea so much and we cannot thank him enough for everything he did for our charity and for rescue animals worldwide.
“We will forever be indebted to him for his endless generosity and support.”
