Lancashire groomers has expansion plans approved

Lancashire-based Scallywags Dog Grooming has had its plans to move into a more sustainable location approved at the second time of asking. 

In September, the business saw its plans to move from the rear of the Brown Cow pub in Chatburn to another property further down Bridge Road refused by Ribble Valley Borough Council. 

The council objected to the fact there was not enough information regarding the impact of noise arising from the move, but this was addressed in an updated planning support statement, which has now been accepted.  

Applicants David and Adele Clay said they want to move as they need extra space to provide further improvements to the business. These include a more spacious grooming area, a separate waiting area, a more suitable rising bath for washing, a drying cabinet, and a staff toilet. 

A decision notice published by the council said: “The use hereby approved within the ground floor of the building known as 10 Bridge Road, Chatburn, shall only be open for business between the following hours: 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. 

“There shall be no business operated from the premises outside the stated opening hours including Sundays or bank holidays. 

“The development hereby approved shall be carried out in complete accordance with the sound mitigation/attenuation measures detailed. The approved sound mitigation/attenuation measures shall be installed in strict accordance with the approved details.” 

Development of the new location must begin within three years.
