Surrey Heath dog controls stay in place after dog attacks
Surrey Heath Borough Council’s executive committee has extended its Public Protection Safety Orders, which include restrictions on dogs, for a further three years.
Surrey Police requested the orders, which ensure dogs are kept on their leads, stay in place after recording 65 dog attacks on people or other dogs in the area in the last year.
There are also 30 dog exclusion areas, mainly in and around children’s play areas.
The extension means people will continue to face fines of up to £1,000 for walking their dog off the lead, entering dog exclusion areas, and for not picking up dog mess.
