Yeovil firm plans new doggy daycare facility

Yeovil-based doggy daycare Paws n Klaws is looking for a permanent base near Ilchester.

The company is seeking planning permission from South Somerset District Council to change the use of a parcel of land at Three Acres to provide a daycare facility. The site, measuring one hectare, is planned to be separated into six areas where groups of dogs would be cared for, with two more areas set aside for rental to individuals wishing to safely exercise their dogs.

Paws n Klaws says it currently has a large waiting list and is hoping to employ up to eight new members of staff if it can move to the new facility.

Planning documents read: ” In a short period of time, Paws n Klaws has grown to a company of three staff members and a client base of more than 100. Unfortunately, it cannot take on anymore clients due to not having a secure location to walk them. Having a full-time exclusive site for dog walking would expand the business significantly given the fact it could have more group walks during the day.

“The firm already has a large waiting list for when it can offer this service. In order to provide a successful business, they would need to recruit up to eight new members of staff providing job opportunities for the local community.”

Paws n Klaws Pet Services originally started in 2013 providing dog walking, doggy daycare and boarding. Due to a change in circumstances the business closed in 2015, but was relaunched in 2021 as only dog walking and drop-in home visits for clients in an eight mile radius from Yeovil.
