West Lothian doggy daycare collects donations for Pet Aid campaign
Doggy daycare Paw Haus in Livingston, West Lothian, is collecting donations for the Pet Aid campaign.
The Scottish SPCA campaign, which was set up in August, to provide essential food supplies for animals through a network of 16 food banks across most of Scotland.
The doggy daycare has set up a donation box hoping to collect as many essentials as possible.
Having already donated a couple of boxes packed with food, the daycare centre aims to support pets and their owners during the cost-of-living crisis.
Ewan Hunter, Director at Paw Haus, told Edinburgh Live: “When we heard about the huge and continuing rise in numbers of calls to the Scottish SPCA about rehoming because people were worried about continuing to be able to afford to feed their dogs, we knew we wanted to do something more to help.”
Scottish SPCA Chief Executive, Kirsteen Campbell, said: “This year, our inspectors are having to support pet owners in some horrendous situations. We’re helping people who are not buying food for themselves so they can feed their pet, who are calling our animal helpline in floods of tears because they feel they’ve let their animal down.
“Prevention is in our name, and Pet Aid is part of our wider commitment to early intervention when it comes to protecting animals. Wherever possible, we will act to stop a person feeling they have no choice but to give up their pet.
Paw Haus is accepting donations at its address at the Daks Building, Polbeth, EH55 8TJ.
