West Lothian doggy daycare put up for sale

The Dog Play and Learning Centre, a West Lothian-based doggy daycare, is being put up for sale.

Owner Lisa Haydon, who launched the business in 2012 after leaving Oatridge Agricultural College, plans to focus on her training work.

The new owner will acquire an existing client base and the centre that includes 200sq m of land in West Calder and a purpose-built building, which has a grooming salon and therapy room. There is also plenty of space for growing the on-site facilities.

Haydon told Edinburgh Live: “The Dog Play Centre is situated in farmland in West Calder and the urban and city dogs benefit from the fresh air and the farm animals in the background. It really gives the dogs something to scent about.

“Daycare is a more common concept nowadays, but I believe we must focus on what the dogs need – to be outside and to be able to behave like dogs in a safe and friendly environment. This job can feed the soul for the right individual in a natural setting.”

She added: “It will be sad to let the daycare go, but it is the right time for new blood to come in and drive the vision further forward with the main goal of changing the world that dogs live in.”

Anyone interested in the business should contact Haydon directly at info@thedogplaycentre.com.
