Vacant Lancashire industrial unit could become doggy daycare

A vacant industrial unit in Lancashire could become a new doggy daycare venue under plans submitted to Darwen Council.

The industrial unit is situated close to the A666 – a popular commuter route from and to Bolton and Blackburn.

Applicant Jurguen Moquet has applied for planning permission for the change to Unit 6 on the Watery Lane Industrial Estate in Darwen.

A supporting statement with the planning application to Blackburn with Darwen Council says: “There will be minimal changes to the unit as it is currently fit for purpose.

“Internally the applicant proposes to use non-permanent partitioning to create separate areas within the unit. This will allow for segregation of the dogs depending on the number present of different ages or size.

“The external appearance of the building will remain unchanged except for altering the current sign appropriately.”

It added: “Only a limited number of dogs at a time will be allowed to use the outdoor play area, supervised by trained members of staff.”

The proposal would create four full-time jobs.

The opening hours would be Monday to Friday 7am to 7.00pm, Saturday and Sundays – closed, although the unit may run a session on Saturday morning in the future.
