Trade body issues guidance for ‘home alone’ trend
The Professional Dog Walkers’ Association is reporting a “dramatic increase” in inquiries for ‘home alone’ care for dogs, which can include walking, feeding, and toileting a dog when the owner is absent.
In response to the trend, the trade body has created an infographic with some factors for care providers to consider.
The Professional Dog Walkers Association said: “It is an enormous responsibility to undertake. There are many factors that need to be carefully considered from the practical application through to the emotional/well-being standpoint – both for the dog and for you, as the caregiver.
“Please do check the current legislation in your individual area. In addition, please check any advisory guidelines. For example, the RSPCA have issued a PDF with advice regarding how long dogs should be left alone for.”
