Sheffield cat hotel owner seeks permission to turn it into doggy daycare centre
A cat hotel in Sheffield could be transformed into a doggy daycare centre, as demand for dog care services rises.
Andy Irving, owner of Myers Grove House Cat Hotel, has lodged a planning application for the building to now be used for his doggy daycare business, called Forest Dogs, which has been operating since 2019.
The proposed new premises would operate from Monday to Friday from 7am until 6:30pm, and Saturdays from 9am until 5pm.
Irving cited the rise in demand for doggy daycare services as the main reason behind the proposed change.
“As post-pandemic restrictions lifted and people returned to work, we are at our daycare capacity,” he said in the planning statement.
“We have had 260 enquiries on our new website since July 2021, with 134 of these since 1 January 2022, all added to our waiting list and keen to take up our services.”
The business would create two additional full-time and two part-time jobs.
