Rushcliffe council approves new rules for dog walkers

Rushcliffe Borough Council, in Nottinghamshire, has approved new rules for dog walkers, which include a limit on how many dogs someone can walk at one time.

The council will extend a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which will see dog walkers limited to walking a maximum of six dogs at any time, this is limited to four dogs in specific areas.

In addition, council officers can also now instruct dog walkers to leash a pet in any area – not just designated leash zones.

The order will apply to more locations as well, including certain new developments.

There will also be fixed penalty notices for dog fouling, as well for the other controls.

The council’s previous PSPO, which is set to expire on 7 July, will be extended on 8 July for the next three years once approved.
