Consultation looks at Swansea Bay summer dog bans

A public consultation has been launched on potential changes to rules banning dogs from beaches along Swansea Bay during the summer months.

A byelaw introduced in 1991 excludes dogs from specific beaches on Gower and sections of Swansea Bay between the months of May and September, and excluded dogs from the beach from the West Pier to the eastern edge of the slip opposite the Swansea Municipal Baths. A second byelaw was introduced in 1998 excluding dogs from the slip opposite West Cross Inn to the beach access point opposite Sketty Lane.

However, the council has launched a survey looking to gather views from the public and other stakeholders regarding the areas of exclusion, along with times of year and times of day, along Swansea Bay only.

The consultation, which closes on 23 August, can be viewed here.
