Plans for South Shields dog wash station approved
Plans for a ‘self-service’ dog wash station at a South Shields coastal spot have been given the green light.
South Tyneside Council’s planning department has approved the plans for land next to the public toilets at the Harbour Drive South Car Park.
Applicant NE Dog Wash, which already operates in Blyth, Whitley Bay and several country parks across the region, sought permission to install the wash station with service connections including power, water and waste.
A council decision report noted the development was “relatively modest in terms of its scale and appearance” and would not “give rise to any harm to local visual amenity”.
Under planning conditions, the development must be brought forward within three years.
