Man punched in face during attempt to steal his dog in Gloucester

A man was punched in the face in what is believed to have been an attempt to steal his dog in Gloucester earlier this week.

The man was walking his dog when a motorist in a white BMW slowed down as he drove by Reservoir Road, the Robinswood area.

The man who was in the passenger seat then got out of the vehicle, ran towards the victim and grabbed the dog.

As the victim tried to pick up his dog, the man punched him in the face and continued to try and get the dog. He was unsuccessful in his attempts and then ran back to the white BMW.

The dog was unharmed in the incident and the owner suffered a sore face.

The area is popular for dog walkers and police are asking people to remain vigilant and to call 999 if they see suspicious activity or if a crime is taking place, and to try and note vehicle registrations if able to do so.
