London community centre crowdfunding for grooming salon
Barkney Wick, a community centre in Hackney Wick, East London, is crowdfunding for a grooming salon.
The centre is hoping to raise £19,500 to expand its services to offer luxury doggy mani-pedis, full grooming, and mini grooming/blow dries.
The centre already offers doggy daycare, walks, acclimatisation, and training sessions. It also has a cafe and bar called After Bark that serves up human and dog treats, coffee, cocktails, and puptails.
The centre said: “We undertook our fit-out works at Barkney Wick predominantly using recycled and upcycled materials, in keeping with the ethos of the centre which is to be eco-friendly and low waste. We plan to use the same ethos to create a grooming space, but we need funds to help pay for the build of the room, the equipment, and initial start-up costs.”
