Lancashire doggy daycare given the go-ahead
A doggy daycare could soon open in Rimington, in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, after plans were approved by the local council.
Rowena Culshaw applied to the Ribble Valley Borough Council to change the registered use of land adjacent to Kelrydding Cottage, in Rimington, from agricultural fields to a doggy daycare centre.
The facility, which will initially care for up to six dogs, will grow to offer spaces for as many as 24 animals.
A small single-story timber building will be installed, creating an area for ‘dog downtime’, feeding, washing, and an employee welfare and office space.
A report published on the council’s planning portal reads: “The proposal will provide a small-scale dog daycare facility with a single employee initially caring for six dogs with potential to employ four persons caring for a maximum of 24 dogs over a two-year business plan.
“The facility will provide daycare for dogs while owners go to work. As such it is considered to provide a benefit to the local economy and as such would meet the main aims of these policies.”
Some conditions were attached to the approval including opening times and specifications around the number of dogs allowed in the facility at any one time.
