Isle of Wight salon reopens after flood
Wight’s Wash ‘n’ Wag Dog Grooming, in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, has reopened after it was forced to close suddenly as a result of flooding.
The salon, along with several other businesses on Monkton Street, was flooded on 25 October and was only able to reopen on 31 October.
The businesses believe there were “failures” in the way the flood system at the nearby Simeon Rec was implemented and not all of the flood boards were put in place in time.
Tash Gough, owner of the salon, told Isle of Wight County Press: “Staff have lost hours and we’ve lost revenue. Everyone’s furious because someone is to blame and something should be done. Someone needs to be held accountable.”
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency told the newspaper that it would review its response to see whether additional flood boards would have reduced the flooding.
