Greater Manchester dog hotel supports charity
A dog hotel is raising funds for an animal rescue sanctuary by giving guests the chance to name a room.
Farm Cottage Boarding in Harwood, Greater Manchester, swapped room numbers for pet names, with customers being asked to donate £25 to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in exchange for a name of their choosing.
The dog hotel also offered its clients the option of sending in their favourite pictures of their pets to be printed on canvases and put up on the walls of the hotel, raising £550 for the charity.
Alice Holt, owner of Farm Cottage Boarding, told Bury Times: “What could be better than bringing the two together to allow our customers to make their mark in the dog hotel by naming a room and having a photo of their dog on the wall and raising money for charity at the same time?”
Farm Cottage Boarding, formerly known as Shelley’s Kennels, opened its doors in November after owners Alice Holt and Bill Brown moved to the new location.
Karen Weed, General Manager at Bleakholt, told the newspaper: “We are over the moon with the fantastic amount raised by Farm Cottage Boarding name a room comp. This really had come at such a desperate time when we are seeing more and more animals needing our help.
“We are very grateful to the wonderful owners for running such an inventive fundraiser.”
In addition, Farm Cottage Boarding offered a clients a pre-Christmas dog bath for £10, with 50% of the profits also being donated to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary.
