Grantham groomer seeks retrospective permission
A Grantham dog groomer is seeking retrospective planning permission to operate a salon from a home.
Tidy Ted’s Dog Grooming, which operates in St Andrews, on the Sunningdale estate, launched in May.
Owner Charmaine Galtress has asked South Kesteven District Council for planning permission to run the business from a timber-framed building measuring 2m x 3m. The building, which is located “a good distance” from neighbouring properties, will be insulated to ensure there is minimum noise and no noisy dogs will be accepted.
The proposal is to run the business Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with one dog on the premises at a time, and a maximum of six dogs per day.
Customers will drop off and collect dogs so there will be no parking for longer than 10 minutes.
The planning application shows that the parish council has asked for clarity over whether the business is allowed to operate.
Parish clerk Pete Armstrong asks: “Is this allowed as I am led to believe there is a covenant on these properties denying use as a business?”
The application will be assessed in due course.
