Government reduces fee for DBS checks
The government has revealed that the fee for DBS checks, the process to find out whether someone has a criminal record. will reduce from 6 April.
The fee for basic and standard checks falls £5 to £18 and the fee for an enhanced check and an enhanced with barred lists check reduces by £2 to £38.
In addition, the fee for the Update Service will remain the same, at £13 per year. Standard, enhanced, and enhanced with barred lists DBS checks for volunteer applications will also remain free-of-charge.
Eric Robinson, Chief Executive of DBS, said: “We aim to offer good value for money to our customers and, after a review, we are pleased to be able to reduce the fees for DBS checks.
“The change in fees reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality, reliable, consistent, timely, and accessible services.”
