Dumfries doggy daycare to close after owner ‘victim of embezzlement’
Doggy daycare Holts Hounds in Dumfries, in southern Scotland, has is to close down after its owner claimed he was the “victim of embezzlement”.
Owner Dave Holt posted on social media that his “life savings” have been taken by a long-standing “family friend”.
He said: “I wish this had been my choice, as there are few jobs I would rather be doing than the one I have been in. It has been a long two weeks, but I will keep this to the point regarding the reason behind it.
“All the money I had saved as a nurse, money I put away for a pension, and money my dad had left me when he died is all gone. After speaking to the police and seeking legal advice from a solicitor, there is no way to claim any of this back through insurance. This is all still very raw, and I don’t know what will happen down the line after this has been to court, but that will not happen for a long time yet.
“As such, I need to put plans in place to start again and rebuild my savings and this will involve going back to nursing full time. I am not talking about all of this to get any sympathy.”
The business is due to close on 28 February.
