Dogs Trust to host emotion and behaviour event for dog care professionals
Dogs Trust is calling on dog care professionals to attend its first dog emotion and behaviour conference aimed at the petcare sector.
The conference – The Key to Success: Emotion and Behaviour for Dog Care Professionals – takes place in Scotland on 20-21 May at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel in Glasgow.
The event is aimed at dog care professionals and anyone who is considering a career working with dogs and will offer support with high-welfare and evidence-based professional development opportunities.
Attendees can expect a series of talks from experts in dog behaviour including Dr Rachel Casey, Director of Canine Behaviour and Research at Dogs Trust; River McDonald, Director of Edinburgh Dog Behaviour, and Stephanie Zikmann, Founder of the Holistic Grooming Academy.
Presentations will cover subjects including dealing with challenging behaviours in practice and owner communication, and emotional wellbeing for pet professionals. There will also be a number of workshops on topics such as diffusing emotional situations and putting communication into practice. Throughout the conference there will be opportunities for delegates to ask question and to engage in open discussion, as well as to network with other professionals.
Dr Jenna Kiddie, Head of Canine Behaviour at Dogs Trust, said: “Dog walkers, daycare providers, groomers, sitters, boarders and other care professionals can play a very important role in the lives of the nation’s dogs. This conference brings together dog behaviour and professional experts to offer an amazing range of education opportunities, from lectures to workshops.”
Attendees can join in-person for two days with an overnight stay in the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, with all meals included in the ticket price, or there is the option to join online.
