Dog park opens at Kent shopping centre

A new secure dog park has opened at Westwood Cross shopping centre in Broadstairs, Kent, by dog walking business Royal Hounds.

The park, which is secured by a 6ft fence, includes a woodland area, sensory area, toys, and seating areas.

Maxine Hughes, Owner of Westwoods Dog Park, told the Isle of Thanet News: “Dogs are a big part of our families, and it was extremely important to me to open a park that offers safety and security for dogs while off-lead, and provide peace of mind for owners. I am so pleased to be working with Westwood Cross to provide this space, and we’re delighted with the feedback following our opening weekend.”

Francesca Donovan, Centre Manager at Westwood Cross, told the newspaper: “Westwood Cross is a dog-friendly shopping centre, and we are extremely pleased to be working with Royal Hounds to provide our very own secure dog park on-site. The centre now offers a fantastic safe space for dogs and dog owners, and we’re looking forward to welcoming more dog families to the centre.”

The park is open 6am to 9pm daily with sessions available to be booked in advance online via the Westwood Cross website. Each exclusive 45-minute booking slot costs £15 for up to 6 dogs.
