Derbyshire dog park plans set for approval

Plans for a dog park next to Stenson Lock, in Derbyshire, are set to be approved despite objections.

The scheme, submitted by Sarah Stephens, would see vacant land in Stenson Road, turned into a bookable dog park.

There would be a 5-10 minute gap between bookings, the plan says, and a car park with five spaces would be created on site. The hours of the site would be restricted 8am until 8pm.

The plans attracted more than 30 objection letters, with residents raising concern over the impact of dogs barking will have on the livelihoods of people sleeping in the barges, along with issues over existing parking problems and the alleged lack of local need for the facility.

However, South Derbyshire District Council planning officers have recommended the scheme be approved.

Councillors will make a decision at a meeting on 19 March.
