Coatbridge play centre launches crowdfunder in a bid to beat soaring energy prices

Kirsty Higgins, owner of Pawsitive Play indoor dog socialisation and play centre in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, has raised more than £1,200 through a crowdfunding appeal to help the centre stay open as energy prices soar.

Higgins said she opened Pawsitive Play to provide an area where ‘Covid dogs’ who lacked socialisation or anxious dogs can learn how to interact with their peers.

She said: “Our main aim when we opened was to ensure affordability for all our customers. We have always tried to be cheaper than outdoor fields and to be affordable enough to be an area you can visit daily or weekly rather than just on special occasions. However, each month we really struggle to ensure the running cost are met, and so far we have not taken anything out of this business as everything goes back into the business to buy in stock.

“All donations will go towards paying the cost of gas and electricity used to maintain the service and cover costs of staying open during this heatwave.”
