Cheshire dog park to appeal planning decision
The Dogs Paddocks Lower Whitley, located on Marsh Lane between Northwich and Warrington in Cheshire, has been denied planning permission for it to continue operating.
The business was seeking permission from Cheshire West and Chester Council to change the use of part of a field to a dog park. It had been operating at the site as a permitted development under planning regulations since October last year.
However, the council has now refused the plans, saying the ‘associated building and engineering operations in direct connection with the dog exercise use’ does not preserve the openness of the green belt.
In a decision letter, the council added: “The development gives rise to a harmful urbanising impact upon the intrinsic character and appearance of the countryside.”
In response, Stephanie Cheadle, Director of The Dogs Paddocks Lower Whitley, told the Northwich Guardian: “I am overwhelmingly shocked at the reasons given and find them flawed and therefore am planning to appeal.
“I purchased the land with money inherited from my father who passed away when I was 13 years old – the joy and excitement of purchasing the land and opening The Dogs Paddocks Lower Whitley has been jaded by this whole experience.”
