Berkshire council renews dog control measures
Windsor and Maidenhead Borough Council has renewed an order designed to promote responsible dog ownership for a further three years.
The Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPO) means anyone caught letting a dog foul in a public place anywhere in the borough will continue to risk a £100 fixed penalty notice.
The order also allows community wardens or police to ask those in charge of a dog to put the pet on a lead if it is loose and causing harassment, alarm or distress in a public place.
Council leader Simon Werner said: “While these measures do give wardens the ability to issue fines, their focus is allowing wardens to have meaningful conversations with the minority of people who break the rules to encourage voluntary compliance and changes in behaviour.”
